Halloween
This is my first "official" entry. Hooray! I need to start with Halloween, because we had so much fun. You know, I'm not really a big Halloween fan (the colors are ugly... the decorations are really morbid), but I love watching my kids get so excited and helping them dress up in their costumes. This year Emileigh was a queen, Lauren was a girl pirate, James was Jack Sparrow, Ty was a Jedi (Obi Wan), and Siri just went as herself...cute, little baby. First we went to a block party thrown by some friends, and it was so fun to mingle and see the other costumes and eat. There was a ton of food (way to go Jessica!)... a good way to start the night. Then it was time for some serious trick-or-treating. One of our neighbors fills his flat-bed trailer with hay, hitches it to his four-wheeler and takes all of the neighbors around on it. It's a great way to mingle with our neighbors and watch the kids go from house to house without actually having to run to every house with them. I just sat on the hay and watched...sooo nice! After about half an hour of breathing exhaust from the quad. and sampling candy from the kids' bags I headed home and let Craig finish with the kids. They all came home with, I'm not kidding, pounds of candy, and then we had a ton left over too because hardly anyone comes trick-or-treating to our house. So much for the diet. (Actually I've been pretty good. I try to only eat the three musketeer bars because they're "lower" in fat than all the other candy...or so I tell myself.) The kids were covered in hay and pretty tired and chocolaty, but proud of how much candy they'd gotten. What a fun night!
